Offering a Variety of Affordable Payment Options
At the Skupin Law Group, PLLC, we always try to help by offering a variety of affordable payment options, including the following:
- Flat Fee Retainer Rates
- Hourly Retainer Rates
- Payment Plans
When choosing a flat fee retainer rate, our clients would know just how much their legal fees will cost up front. This means there would be no hidden fees and no surprises when the case is finally over. This allows our clients to budget and plan accordingly. Please note that pursuant to Attorney Ethical Rules, clients must remain responsible for all costs associated with their case. These costs would include filing fees, deposition costs, copy fees, service of process costs, and expert fees to name a few.
Factors That May Affect the Cost of Your Case
There are many factors that may affect your case, attorney’s fees, and costs. For example, a short marriage with no children, property, or debt would typically not result in high attorney’s fees or costs, whereas a client who has been married for 20 years with four children, a substantial amount of real and personal property, debt, and retirement accounts, would require substantially more work—even if the parties can agree on most of the issues. Again, this is why a “one size fits all” approach is impractical.
Some examples of issues that tend to lead to higher fees, besides unreasonable opposing parties:
- Contested child custody or visitation—particularly when one parent feels that the other parent should be kept away from the children
- Unreasonable demands for spousal or child support
- Determination of income for self-employed persons
- Argument of when the acquisition of property occurred
- Improper Use of Orders of Protection—particularly when one parent tries to remove the other from the family residence
